Accurate MS Information for Your Patients

Hi, everyone, my name is Christine Granfield and I am the founder of HealthCare Journey. I am writing to introduce you to our website, which you might find beneficial to your patient population. This website  was developed as a virtual community with the intent to provide unbiased, accurate, and supportive information to patients who have been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.

Rip Kinkel, M.D., director of the MS program at the University of California, San Diego, has been very involved in the development of this website. Here’s a video interview with Kinkel, conducted at the recent ACTRIMS-ECTRIMS meeting in Boston, in which he discusses HealthCare Journey:

Our intent is not to replace your expert care but to streamline the vast amount of knowledge available for patients to learn from. As you know, patients have very little time with physicians and healthcare providers, and consequently many questions arise but go unanswered until the next office visit. Some people with MS live far from an MS treatment center.

HealthCare Journey offers patients and providers an educational tool to use in between office visits to access leading experts. People can ask our experts about their disease and get high-quality answers quickly. In this way, we hope to reduce the workload on MS healthcare providers and staff.

This site is nonpolitical and not tied to any one group or company. We are not selling or promoting anything. It consists of professionals and patients all trying to offer accurate information and helpful materials to use every day while coping with a chronic illness. The site is very streamlined, easy to use, and is intended only to be used as a tool for patient education.

We would be happy to link to your clinic on our site, along with any information you feel may be beneficial to other patients. Anyone with expertise in MS is welcome to blog and to add comments to the site.

Please feel free to use the site as your own, should your organization or clinic not have one. The website is free to all and registration is not required. If patients choose to register, they can be assured that their name and email will not be sold or distributed. Last, we can provide you with business cards or flyers to place in your clinic so patients have ready access.
