Description:
Dear Colleagues,
You are invited to attend the third installment of Orion Bionetwork’s webinar series, which will be held on May 6, 12 noon ET. This webinar will feature Dr. Stephen Wicks, a scientist and data curator with Rancho BioSciences, who will present “The Role of the Gut Microbiome on Multiple Sclerosis Risk and Progression.”
With a diverse background in systems biology, behavioral neurobiology, computational biology, and genetics, Dr. Wicks possesses decades of experience in life science research environments and has consistently drawn on experimental and computational approaches to enable discovery. Given evidence that the microbiome has profound effects on inflammatory and immune responses, Dr. Wicks will explore the interaction of the microbiome with the host genome and its impact on MS predisposition and progression.
Orion Bionetworks is a Cambridge, MA, non-profit 501(c)(3) research organization that builds Bionetwork Alliance communities to assemble and integrate high-dimensional biomarker, biosensor, and phenotypic data and advance knowledge discovery through the power of predictive analytics and computer modeling to accelerate the development of new diagnostics, treatments, and cures for brain disorders.
Orion’s webinar series will foster an exchange of knowledge on the latest breakthroughs in a variety of technical fields including bioinformatics, computational modeling, biomarker research, and nanotechnologies, and will discuss how these can be utilized to accelerate time to cure disease.
In addition, we are inviting expert speakers to submit proposals for future webinars on the above topics. These webinars will be 50 minutes in length, followed by a 10-min Q&A with questions submitted virtually by the participants. All Webinars will be freely open to the entire community.
