Subacute myelo-optic neuropathy SMON
An iatrophic disease (in some circles) caused by the administration of chlioquinol. Patients exhibit symptoms very similar to MS and have not been exposed to chlioquinol. Nor do they exhibit the lesions of the brain. The spinal cord myelin sheath is degenerated usually from the craniocervical junction to about T-5. There may even be some extension into the region of the PONS and distally effecting the long axons and peripheral nerves. Little research has been conducted with none known ongoing. This disease could possibly be a useful model of study for the spinal cord and peripheral neuropathies also associated with MS. Comments please.
